Hyundai's cheapest SUV AX1 is coming in the new year, the price is likely to be between Rs 5.5 million to Rs 8.5 million

With the rising trend of cheaper and more high-riding vehicles, Hyundai is also working on launching its cheapest SUV. The micro SUV, codenamed 'AX1', has been spotted with India in several places during testing. Based on these Spy Spy Shots we have made a list of some notable items, which will give you information about the upcoming Hyundai AX1.

1. Design

Spy Shots advises that the Hyundai AX1 will have a high-riding size. As well, there will be a boxy shape as well. However, Hyundai can be soft on styling elements. So, it can be made cheaper for the customers. The test model has been seen with functional roof rails, diamond cut alloy wheels and LED tail lamps and all these features can make the production model even cheaper.


2. Powertrain

The car is expected to be based on the K1 platform, just like the Centro. Along with this the Grand i10 can get 1.2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine from Neos and Next Generation i20. This engine generates 83PS of power and 115Nm of torque. The AXI is expected to be introduced with an optional automatic with a 5-speed manual transmission.


3. Features

The AX1 will come with LED DRL, a large touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless charger, automatic climate control, keyless entry and height adjustable driver.


4, potential price

Hyundai is expected to price the AX1 between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 8.5 lakh, making it the cheapest SUV in the Indian market. It will be placed below the venue in Hyundai’s lineup.

5. Competitors

The production-ready version of the Hyundai AX1 Micro SUV will challenge the Maruti Suzuki Ignis as well as the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. This special segment will soon see a new car ready for production, the Tata HBX.
