GSRTC came into existence on May 1, 1960 on the formation of Gujarat. Division department, dep 76 depots and divisional departmental workshops and 1,767 buses heading towards it from the normal start of the fleet of buses,

• 7 tire retreading plant.
• Bus body building plant (1000 bus bodies / year)

• E-Governance: / Existing Systems:
• First in the country to introduce GPS / PIS based bus tracking and passenger information system for monitoring in GSRTC buses.
• 14000 electronic ticketing machines have been introduced in all 7467 catalogs.
• GSRTC has launched its own website www.gsrtc.in. The online timetable for the express services has been uploaded on the website and the SMS for internet based passengers has been uploaded through the online passenger reservation system as well as e-ticketing for the public.
• Internet-based passenger online passenger reservation system for passengers as well as e-ticketing for the public.
• CCTV camera based surveillance vigilance system has been installed in all 125 depots.
• Integrated depot management system has been implemented in all 125 depots.
• Central stores and all divisional stores have been computerized. The inventory management system has been successfully implemented.
• Public entertainment system.
• BSNL VPNoBB connectivity.
• A computerized pass issue system has been introduced for daily and student passes.
• Laboratory test analysis has been computerized at Central Store.
• The pay bill and provident fund system of all the employees have been computerized.
• Statistical analysis has been done by computerized system.
• The e-tendering process has been established.
• Implement "automated driver testing system" for driving skills test.
• Recruitment of "Online Recruitment for Staff" in all categories.
• Implemented video conferencing system between Central Office Fees and all 16 Division Office Fees
