Challan Amount For Seat Belt pertaining to the recent road accident in which former Tata Group president Cyrus Mistry was killed. Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari has expressed remorse in this regard. Along with this, there has been talk of forfeitures.

Minister Gadkari said that his ministry is planning to put forfeitures on those who travel in a auto without wearing a seat belt, anyhow of which seat they're seated at the front or the reverse. Now a heavy forfeiture will be assessed on them soon. Gadkari, who arrived at the IAA Global Summit in New Delhi, answered media queries about Cyrus Mistry. 

 

New rules will be enforced soon 

Minister Gadkari, while admitting that road accidents are more common in India, still refused to give the quantum of fine to be assessed for violation of the proposed new seat belt rule. still, he said that the new rule buses will be prepared with a provision to make airbags obligatory while making the auto.

He said that he was stupefied to see the record of 500,000 accidents in the country within a time. Gadkari mentioned that 60 per cent of the road accidents involved people in the age group of 18- 34. The minister lamented the huge migration of pastoral population to civic areas and said that moment 65 per cent of the people in townlets and timber areas don't contribute further than 12 per cent of GDP. 

 

what are the rules 

In agreement with section 138( 3) of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules(1989), the auto in which you're handed with a seat belt under sub-rule(1) or sub-rule(1- A) of rule 125 or rule 125. In that auto, it's necessary for the motorist and the person sitting in the frontal seat to wear a seat belt. Also, it's necessary for the passengers who sit behind in 5 seater buses to wear seat belts. In the same 7 seater auto in which the passengers sitting before are facing towards the front, it's necessary to wear a seat belt while walking in it. 


There are so numerous forfeitures 

Wearing seatbelts is obligatory by law and includes forfeitures, but numerous people still do n’t follow it. In 2019, the fine for not wearing seatbelts was increased from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 in India under the Motor Vehicles Amendment Act 2019.
