Survey in Ahmedabad: 44% parents say no children should be sent to school this year while 66% support online education


A school in Ahmedabad surveyed more than 5,000 parents of its school when it was still hesitant to start a school due to the Koro epidemic. 66% of parents supported online education. While 44 per cent parents expressed the view of not starting schools during the entire academic year. While 40 per cent parents are ready to send their children to school after Diwali. And 16 percent of parents are willing to send their child to school just a month after the government school opens.

7,500 parents were invited to participate in the survey
Ahmedabad-based Udgam School for Children and Zebar School for Children recently surveyed more than 5,000 parents. The survey was conducted to find out whether parents want to send their children to school in the current Corona epidemic situation, what their views are on online education and how students should take exams. A total of 7,500 parents were invited to participate in the survey out of which 5,100 parents participated.



Parents are not prepared to risk sending their children to school until the vaccine arrives
Interestingly, 16 per cent of parents said they would send their children to school only a month after government schools reopened. 44% of parents clearly stated that they would send their children to school from April, 2021. The survey also found that 66 per cent parents are quite satisfied with online education and are not willing to risk sending their children to school until the Covid-19 vaccine is available. Although 8% of parents expressed dissatisfaction with online education while the remaining 26% said that online education is good but it can be made even better.

51 percent of parents fully agree to the online exam
72 percent of parents agreed. Online education has improved the daily routine of children and if it was not for online education, the child would have spent all day in useless activities. Asked about the exam, 51 per cent parents said they fully agree with taking the exam online. According to 21 per cent parents, they want the old method of taking exams with pen and paper but children should take the exam at home, not at school. Eight per cent of parents expressed the view that no exams should be taken until schools resume regularly.

Parents do not want to send their children to school until their safety is assured
Manan Choksi, executive director of Udgam School for Children and Zebar School for Children, said that 99 per cent of our students have access to computers and internet. Parents are also satisfied with online education and that is why they do not want to be sent to school until they are sure about the safety of their children. We are taking positive feedback that online learning can be made even better.
